Job Description
Performs direct patient care in the Emergency Department under a collaborative agreement with a designated Emergency Department Physician. Provider may also be directed by the supervising physician to perform other duties in accordance with contractual agreements, and policies, procedures, and protocols established by Hospital's Board of Directors.
Essential Duties include but not limited to
- Deliver safe, high-quality care to all patients.
- Performs and documents physical examinations on all patients, neonate through the geriatric population, urgent and non-urgent in the Emergency Department.
- Adhere to the highest standards of medical practice, ethics, and professionalism at all times.
- Recognizes abuse/neglect potential in both young and older population as well as domestic violence. Reports per facility policy when identifies as a risk.
- Refers patient to other healthcare professionals as appropriate, i.e., psychiatry, physical therapy, Social Service.
- Participate in a Physician-lead provider-based health care delivery system which supports continuous improvement in patient care.
- Provide hospital and emergency room call coverage (with a physician on back-up call) no less than eight (8) days per month, including one weekend per month. Provide as needed assistance with urgent care visits during normal business hours of the clinic
- Promptly report to the Hospital risk manager, on the appropriate forms, the details of any occurrence that might lead to a claim against the Hospital arising out of care provided by Provider.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences, etc.
- •Graduate of an accredited PA or NP Program.
- NCCPA Certified.
- Licensed in the State of Colorado as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in emergency medicine and/or graduate of Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant Residency.
- Registered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) if applicable.
- Current BCLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS certifications.
